About

Hi!  I’m Jess!

I’m a 20-something year old Upstate NY native who loves all things Disney!  It's a pretty serious obsession, but that’s a story for another day.  I'm a lover things DIY, and frequently spend my weekends working on Pinterest-inspired projects and making new creations!

On June 16, 2012, I married the love of my life, Dan.  We have been enjoying our time as newlyweds, and settling in to our life together!  It’s been a roller coaster of sorts, but I wouldn't change it for anything.  He is truly amazing, and I’m so thankful for him!

We honeymooned at the Happiest Place on Earth, Walt Disney World (see, I told you it is an obsession!), later that fall, and had a wonderful time!  We truly acted young at heart, wearing our Mickey and Minnie Bride and Groom ears, and dressing up as Toy Story's own Jessie and Woody for Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party!  Lots of laughs and some wonderful memories were made!  We are already counting down to our next trip there!

When we returned home however, my wonderful wedding and honeymoon memories quickly turned into regret and sadness.  I was so unhappy with how I looked.  I went through countless pictures, trying to find one where I thought I looked acceptable, where my stomach wasn't too obvious, or my arm fat wasn't the main thing seen.

Sadly, I couldn't find a one.

After a few, ok many, nights of tears and countless conversations with myself of “those are days you can never get back…why didn’t you try to lose weight before them!?” I finally decided I needed to change.

So I did.

I joined a gym, changed my diet, became a part of the Weight Watchers community, and most importantly, lit a fire inside myself.  I told myself I’m worth this, and that I CAN do it.  I took a single step, the first of many along this journey, to lose half myself--100+ pounds.  It was so hard at first.  I quit so many times and gave up on myself more times than I could count.  In about 4 months, I lost a whopping 10 pounds.  In mid-February, I decided to truly start again, weighing in at 363.2 pounds.  I was absolutely shocked by that number, but used that shock as motivation.  I haven't looked back since.

While this journey isn’t easy, and sometimes isn’t fun, it’s always rewarding, and I’m so excited to be able to share it here on my blog!   Here I’ll be posting weekly weigh ins, upcoming races, stories, triumphs and defeats.  You may be wondering where the whole Princess theme comes into play.  Well, aside from my goal of losing a significant amount of weight, I also hope, and plan, on running in the 2015 Disney Princess Half Marathon and Glass Slipper Challenge!  Every workout, every smart meal choice, and every step on this journey gets me that much closer to earning my glass slippers!  I can't wait to share each step with you!
